A Staff Health and Wellbeing message

Do you often say, “Hello How Are You?” to your work colleagues in a meaningful way?

We can spend up to 1/3 of our day at work, so we have a great opportunity to connect with others and positively impact their lives.

On the 15th of May, it is national ‘Hello How Are You?’ day – 2024.

Hello, How Are You? is a Mental Health Ireland campaign about connection and engaging in open conversations about mental health.

The campaign asks individuals, communities, workplaces, friends & family to say Hello and ask the question ‘How Are You?’ in a meaningful way.

Asking this small question and having one conversation can make a real difference in someone’s life.

Creating, maintaining and staying connected with others helps tackle loneliness, creates a sense of belonging and purpose and builds relationships.

You don’t need to be an expert to have a meaningful conversation. By using the HELLO Steps you can feel supported in asking the question.

H – Hello – Say Hello and ask ‘How are you?

E – Engage – Engage with the person

L – Listen – Actively listen to the person

– Learn – Learn about the person and how they are feeling

O – Options – Give time to talk through option

Research highlights that engaging in this intentional way can increase the likelihood of people seeking help if needed.

Use your tea break/lunchbreak, team meeting, or ‘just in passing’ to say ‘Hello How Are You?’, with meaning, to keep our workplaces connected.
