Community Employment (CE) is an employment programme funded by the Department of Social Protection. The aim of CE is to support people who have been long term unemployed to return to work by providing participants with work placements and training opportunities.
There are 10 places earmarked for individuals recovering from substance misuse and referred to a place on each CE scheme in Sligo, Leitrim & Donegal. Each participant will be supported by the CE Supervisors on their individual journeys on the programme.
1. Participants will have the opportunity to partake in project work placements and work experience opportunities. Individual Learner Plans will be developed by the participant and the CE Supervisor to give the opportunity to work towards a range of learning options from major awards to industry based awards.
2. Participants are employed on a part-time basis (19.5hrs per week). The rate of payment for new applicants based on 19.5 hours worked will be the equivalent to your existing DSP payment plus a €22.50 participation bonus with a minimum payment of €210.50.
3. Through work placement and training, participants can enhance existing skills and/or develop new skills in an employment area which they have no previous experience or training in.
4. Participants are supported to progress into main stream employment or education during/after their CE placement. Referral places are now open for application.
